More Tips On Article Writing

If you haven’t read the first post “5 Tips On Niche Article Marketing” I suggest you do that first and then come back to this post. That sets out the basic for starting your article marketing campaign and where to submit your articles for maximum exposure.

“The Green Mile” and why I didn’t go see it!

RULE #1 – Your title is the most important part of your article. Spend 50% of your efforts on the “TITLE” of your article. If your title doesn’t tell the reader about benefits or doesn’t raise curiosity or controversy chances are the article won’t get read… so spend a lot of time on it!

Are you the least bit curious as to why I didn’t see The Green Mile when it was released? Hopefully you are. I know it was released some years back, but the concept is current. I didn’t go see it because I figured it was a piece of ecoterrorist propaganda full of half-truths and misdirection. Although after watching the movie I understand the title’s relationship to the prison and death row, it’s still a bad title. I’m thinking I probably would have gone if the title was something like “The Regurgitator-Death Row’s Angel”. I know, I know! I’m one sick puppy, but it would grab my attention.

Specificity In, Generalization Out!

Here are a few additional pointers when it comes to writing titles for your articles:

Be very specific:

– 5 Tips On Niche Article Writing….
– 10 Secrets To Writing Great Headlines….
– Seven Things Not To Do On A First Date…
Or…
… Is Long and Hard Better…
… In Just One Week!
… For Less Than The Price Of A Happy Meal…
… One Hour A Day…

Tell your reader the benefits in the title. Stir their curiosity or stimulate their ego. Go against the mainstream by offering a counterpoint.

Me! Me! Me! Me!

Use the word “YOU” as often as possible in your title. People want to know “what’s in it for me if I read this?” The word “YOU” is a psychological trigger that tells them that there is something in it for them.

Be unique, entertaining, and show off your personality!

This one element of writing to a targeted audience is critical. Think back for a moment to when you were in school. I bet you remember a favorite teacher or professor who you just really enjoyed their class. Why? Usually, it’s because of their personality — one that seemed to shine through in their teaching. In its simplest terms, learning is boring! Most folks hate the thought of learning something new or reading. It’s a painful experience for the masses. So painful, in fact, that unless you grab their immediate attention they will not read your article. So it’s your job to ease the pain and make the learning process fun and entertaining while still providing quality content and a great (yet subtle) sales pitch.

Once you master this skill, you’ll have a dedicated following of readers who will look forward to each and every article you write!

You Can Do It!

Is this going to take some practice? Absolutely! Is it easy? Absolutely! Is it lucrative? You bet it is!

How Is It Lucrative?

Are you selling anything on your website? Are there PPC ads on there? Yes. Great! You drive people to your site with the articles. You will have a link to your website at the end of your article in what is called the resource box. People that like your article and want to read more will click the link to your website.

You could drive traffic to your website for a specific product by writing a review article of the product. If you have your own product that’s terrific. If you need a product look for vendors in your niche that offer an affiliate program. Ask them for a sample of the product to have a review written. Many vendors will send you samples. Just make sure you write the review and furnish the vendor a copy or the link to the review.

Some of the best affiliate product lines to sell are digital goods: Ebooks, software, graphics, and site memberships. The production of these items is usually cheap for the producer and they can offer very high commissions. It’s not unusual to see commission rates from 50% to 90%.

PayDotCom

Go browse through their catalogs for products in your niche. When you find one, buy it and then write a review article about it. Don’t forget to sign-up as an affiliate and get your affiliate link or hop link so you can put the link on your website. When a person clicks the link and buys the product based upon your review you make a commission. You don’t have to handle the sale or process refunds and requests.

So let’s sum up what we’ve learned…

- We need to use Clickbank and PayDotCom for our affiliate programs.
- We need to start writing articles about interesting subjects and then use our affiliate links in the “resource box” to entice readers to click through to our website or the affiliate website
- When our reader purchases a product, we make a hefty commission on the sale

Sounds simple doesn’t it? Well, guess what? It is! Yes, it’s going to take some practice and a little research on your part, but the benefits will surely be worth it. And once you have 50 to 100 articles out there with your affiliate links making you a commission on each sale, that’s when you’ll see at least $100 A DAY in your account on a consistent basis.

And the best part is, that’s only the beginning. There’s no stopping you from there. You can continue to use this system to increase your profits each and every day. Plus, now you can start considering other avenues for your articles. You could start building an email list and sending your product endorsements to your email list, too. Again… there’s no stopping you!

We certainly hope this crash course on how to get started with article marketing and a making a profit online has opened your mind about the endless opportunities that await you.

To recap:
- do some homework
- read the other posts about copywriting and article marketing
- browse the Clickbank and PayDotCom marketplaces for products you’d like to endorse

- Study how others are writing their articles and take notes about why you like some more than others and use those techniques
- find little-known directories that you can submit your articles to
- contact vendors and merchants and let them know you want to sample their product so you can write a review and send customers their way
- Never stop moving ahead

The faster you start writing product reviews and endorsements for affiliate products, the faster you’re going to see your efforts begin to pay off! So go to Clickbank, decide on a product you’d like to write about, whip open your notepad and just start writing. Practice makes perfect, and the more you write, the easier it will become.
