Well, by now you are thoroughly convinced of the importance of using power words to trigger the positive emotional responses of your customers. Please remember not to overdue it. Too much of a good thing and all that.

Power words can and do make people act. The action they take depends on the words you use. When you write your sales copy you need to lightly sprinkle the positive power words in. DON’T overdue it. Using too many power words too often can be a bigger turn-off to your visitor than using an occassional negative power word.

For example:

Amazing, incredible, never to be offered again at this price or any other. This revolutionary widget will perform miracles for your income stream. The secret behind this startling technological magic is being released for a limited time, blah, blah, blah.

I think I’m going to puke. I wouldn’t get the widget if they were giving it away. Seriously! There is simply too much hype and blather.

A lot of cool features is okay, however, customers want to know exactly how your product will help them. Features are useless if they don’t provide a benefit to the customer. Continue to refine, restate, adjust and measure your sales copy and ads until you get the winning message. Expect it to take several tries to succeed. You must promote the right message to get the right traffic.

An effective online business model will have a decent product, strong support, and a professional website presence. These in themselves will not be enough to persuade the visitor to purchase. However, using the correct words, you can help bridge the communication gap by convincing the buyer to consider your product before others.

Power Words

Yesterday’s post was about negative power words. Starting today I’ll be talking about positive power words.

If you haven’t noticed yet people buy, about 99.5% of time, based upon their emotions. Logic and commonsense rarely play a part in the decision to buy. If you’re selling on your website it is extremely important that you use power words to trigger the visitors buy button.

If you were selling in-person or over the phone the customer would hear and/or see your emotion and that would trip their emotional trigger. Videos can help here and are certainly recommended. That is, if you will put a little excitement and sincerity into it.

However, power words in the sales copy can be that extra little push that sends them over the edge and they breakout that revered credit card.

These are some power words that make them take the action you want.
