Making Money On Squidoo
Squidoo is the invention of the best-selling author and internet marketer Seth Godin . Squidoo is another free social networking site. You can set up an endless number of pages they call “lenses.” Unlike a blog with archived posts, Squidoo is a page (lens) you can change and update the content on as you rise in LensRank against others using the site. You ideally want to be listed in the Top 100 list. When you log onto Squidoo, you can set up an account in 1 easy step. Enter the following information into the sign-up page:•First name
•Last name
•Email address
•Desired username (think about it because you can’t change it)
•Password
Then click on the button to Build Your Own Lens or Create a Lens. You can choose from lenses that already have modules on them or customize your lens with modules you choose. A module is just an section of your Squidoo page.
Step 1 of creating a lens is choosing its title. Be sure to use searched for keywords for your title. Let’s use the example of making a Herbal Diet Program lens so that you can sell diet products and make some money from it. The title might be: Herbal Remedies and Nutritional Supplements. You could use diet pills, diet program, lose weight, weight lose, however these are much too competitive and will be difficult to get a high search engine ranking.
In step 2, you can choose to make a custom lens or use a pre-made lens that has modules built-in based upon its purpose. For my example, I chose a money-making lens.
In step 3, you pick your URL that will look like this: http://www.squidoo.com/natural-herbal-wellness. You’ll also choose which category best fits your lens. I chose “Health.” You’ll also need to say if it’s Adult only content or if it’s safe for family and office.
Step 4 is putting in the best keywords for your lens. Don’t enter irrelevant keywords just to help you rank higher. For example, Since my lens is in the “health” category I could have used the keywords ‘swine flu, ‘H1N1 flu’, and ‘flu shots’. You’ll do best over the long run to stay with the specific subject matter so that your real targeted audience can find you. So I put in variations of the lens title, such as herbal wellness, natural health and appetite suppressor . When you’re done, you’ll have an opportunity to edit and fill in your lens. Every lens starts with an introduction module. Write a keyword-optimized paragraph or two about your topic. The search engine spiders will find your introduction module and use it to index your lens in the search results.
Let’s look at a lens I created for the herbal diet product:

You can create a new account for each market niche you want to make money from – one for your Ipod lenses, one for health, another for internet marketing, and so on. And every time someone buys from your lens, you make money as a co-op. This means Squidoo gets part of it to give to charity and you get part. If, however, you link to your own site as I have done, Squidoo doesn’t get a portion of that money. They do get part of the earnings if someone clicks on the other ads on my lens. If you are an affiliate with Amazon, you can add an Amazon module as well.
Making money from Squidoo is relatively easy because you don’t need your own website or hosting.
