Is eBay Feeling the Heat?

In a recent message from eBay they announced some dramatic reductions in their listing fees. Could it be because of the recession or are they feeling the heat from sites like Beezid that feature “Penny Auctions”.

Here are the changes that eBay as implemented and some that will take effect on March 30, 2010:

Free Listings for 5 Items

Selling on eBay is about to get better than ever when it comes to earning extra cash. Today, you can list up to 5 items a month Auction-style free–and pay only if your item sells. Starting March 30, you’ll be able to list your items Auction-Style free–up to 100 items a month–when you set your starting price under $1. If your item sells, you pay one easy Final Value Fee.
