WordPress Plugins You Might Want

In my post on Monday, WordPress Plugins You Should Use, I listed and described the WordPress plugins that are especially important for revenue generating blogs. Get those plugins before you get these. However, get the plugins from this post that fit into your niche.

I use all of them, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they all are good for your site. If you’re not sure, click the name of the plugin and read a more indepth description of it.

Wordpress Plugins – Maybe You Want:

commentluv – Plugin to show a link to the last post from the commenter’s blog in their comment. Just activate and it’s ready. Will parse a feed from most sites that have a feed location specified in its head html. The plugin fetches the feed of the commenter while they type their comment and extracts the last blog post title with link and displays it below the comment form. When they submit their comment, the last blog post link gets added on the end of their comment for all to see!

Contact Form 7 – If you want to add a contact form to your blog this is the plugin to use. It is the easiest to setup and use contact form plugin I have found. It must not be just me as it is one of the top downloads from WordPress.org Search engines like sites with contact forms as it gives the appearance of a real website and not just a sales/squeeze page site.

DealDotComRSS – If you want to generate income as an affiliate – DealDotCom Word Plugin shows DealDotCom Feed with embedded affiliate ID in your posts/pages. Signup as an affilaite first and then activate the plugin. DealDotCom has some of the cheapest prices on popular products and is always worth a few extra bucks every month.

KeywordLuv – Reward your commentators by separating their name from their keywords, in the link to their website, giving them improved anchor text. For example, leaving “Stephen @ Custom WordPress Plugins” in the name field, will result in the following: Stephen from Custom WordPress Plugins. Requires a DoFollow plugin to be effective.

MBP Stripe Ad – See the yellow ad stripe at the top of page above the header? That’s it. Use it for affiliate links, links to another of your product sites or a friend’s site.

Psychic Search – I love this little plugin. You must have a search box on your site for it to work. It keeps data on what searches are performed. You then review the data to see what visitors were looking for and how many times a topic was searched for. If you haven’t posted about the most searched for items you now have new topics to give to your visitors.

Simple CAPTCHA – A simple captcha system for comment system to prevent spam. Very effective and compared to Akismet that I covered Monday, it prevents spam rather than catching it. You still need Akismet, though, to catch spam comments from RSS feeds. You can see this plugin at work on this post by scrolling down to the comment section. It’s next to the ‘Submit’ button.

SurveyGizmo – The SurveyGizmo WordPress plugin lets you access and monitor your SurveyGizmo.com surveys remotely. You’ll need a SurveyGizmo account – get one here free. I chose SurveyGizmo rather that SurveyMonkey because it appeared easier to setup and didn’t require me to modify any of my templates. You can see a poll I have using SurveyGizmo here.

TweetSuite – A WordPress Plugin to integrate Twitter and WordPress. Look at the Twitter icon in the upper right corner of this post and click on it to see the functionality.

WP-o-Matic – Enables administrators to create posts automatically from RSS/Atom feeds. Help supplement your blog posts by aggregating feed from your favorite blogs.

WP-PostRatings – This plugin allows the reader of your post to vote/rate it. There are several different icons and rating methods available. See the 5 stars at the bottom of this post? Hover your mouse over them and a short message appears for each star. Click on the fifth star and watch the stars turn color. Very cool plugin. But then, I’m fascinated by shiny objects. :)

All In One Video Pack – This is not just another video embed tool – it includes every functionality you might need for video and rich-media, including playing, uploading and editing. Also handles photos. Very cool plugin especially if you use video.

That’s it for my list. I’m absolutely certain there are a lot of other very productive and cool plugins that you use. Leave a comment about them.

It is not this bad!Read it again. Please!B- to C+ ?You are terrific!I will click some ads for you. (No Ratings Yet)

  20. I see that you have a WordPress.com blog. WordPress Plugins do not work with WordPress.com blogs. That’s one of the limits in “free” on the blog service. However, if you are thinking of, or already have, a full version WordPress blog, then these Plugins will be of use to you.
